A great day out on 18th March 2015, with Dave Wilson on an area between Green Gully and Number Three Gully Buttress. No guide book. Just follow your nose!

A great day on Ben Nevis with good pals and perfect conditions. Tower Scoop and Smith's Route, followed by a descent of No 4 Gully. We were staying at the CIC Hut for a few nights. March 2015.
Green Gully

Green Gully. One of the classic original grade IV gully ice climbs on Ben Nevis. Often fairly easy for the grade, but in thin conditions it can be close to the grade. The right-hand finish is often guarded by a large cornice. Straight up is better, but steeper on good ice. A left-hand finish is also possible, but rarely used. Mostly good belays on rock all the way, using nuts. A very steep grad...
Great vid, finally something with some climbing in it rather than crap music and the camera a foot away from the chest view. Many thanks for posting.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Did you find that hydrotherapy helped increase your range of movement? I'm considering if and keen to understand whether I should go down this route
Hydrotherapy did help with general rehab. After six years my left knee is still less flexible than before, but no pain, unless it bends beyond it's comfort 'zone'.
@@alankimber8958 thanks for responding. Can you remember the exercises that you did which focused on improving your knee bend? Even if it was land based exercises
Did green when macinnes ice axes were the tools of choice.
Good one, Ian
Beautifully filmed - and congratulations for no music! I did this in January 1977 with Billy Gibson. White-out at the top and we had to bivvy overnight. One of my life’s great adventures. Scary, as I know I was feeling the signs of exposure. Thank heaven Billy was more together.
Many thanks Neville. Glad you enjoyed it. Such a beautiful day.
You had fun, enjoyable watching the video too. IC
Many thanks!!!!!!!!!
Thanks a million. I had a bad experience w a wacko PT that believes in aggressive PT. I fired him and got a new PT. I’m letting her know right off the bat.....NO AGGRESSIVE PT, I’m not a spring chic anymore but rather 68. I joined Golds Gym for personal therapy! I’m 6 weeks, 2 days PO. (12/13/18)
Looks really fun! And wet!
thanks for posting. much appreciated. post op 3 weeks acl here
I've watched this a few times. Can't believe how easy you waltz up this Alan. I reckon you'd be just the same this year, if it was 'in'. Well done, your years of ability shine through. Just you get the legs sorted and come back and show us mortals how it's done.
Such a great route. Fantastic footage.

Really beautiful and fun to watch these friends do a nice climb and tease one another. Nice video, Alan!
Thanks Bruce. How are you?
